This page is a step-by-step guide for the process of opening and setting up an external application in Yahoo as part of the Gigya Setup process.

 

Phase 1 - Opening an External Application in Yahoo:

  1. Go to http://developer.yahoo.com/.
  2. Click on 'My Projects'.

  3. Click on the 'New Project' button.

  4. In the pop-up window that opens, please choose 'Standard' as shown in the example below, and press 'Continue'.

  5. Insert your application name.
  6. Set "Kind of application" field to "Web Based".
  7. Enter a short description (up to 250 characters).
  8. Paste the following URL in the "Application URL" field: http://socialize.gigya.com/gs/?u=[URL-For-Redirect]
    Note: In the u parameter, please insert the URL to which users will be redirected when clicking a Yahoo newsfeed icon. For example: http://socialize.gigya.com/gs/?u=http://yoursite.com.
    Optional: If you are planning on configuring a domain alias (CNAME), please replace 'socialize.gigya.com' with your alias sub domain (CNAME value). i.e.: http://[YOUR-ALIAS-SUB-DOMAIN]/gs/?u=[URL-For-Redirect] 
    Note: please do not use https.
  9. In the Favicon URL, please paste your 16x16px icon URL. For example: http://www.gigya.com/files/logo.gif.
  10. Paste the following URL in the "Application domain" field: http://socialize.gigya.com
    Optional: If you are planning on configuring a domain alias (CNAME), please replace 'socialize.gigya.com' with your alias sub domain (CNAME value). For example:http://socialize.yoursite.com

  11. In Access scopes, please choose 'This app requires access to private user data' and select the following options:
    • Yahoo! Contacts – Read/Write
    • Profiles – Read/Write Public and Private
    • Yahoo! Status – Read/Write
    • Yahoo! Updates - Read/Write

      The rest should remain unchanged.
       
  12. Check the terms of use box.

  13. Press the 'Get API Key'. 
  14. If this is your first application, the following screen will appear:

  15. Create the file as detailed.
  16. Upload the file to the root directory of your server (i.e. yoursite.com).
    Note: if you don't upload the file right away, the name of the file might change.
  17. Click on 'Verify Domain'.
  18. Copy the "API Key" the, "Shared Secret" and the "Application ID".
    Please note: make sure you copy the whole API key.

Phase 2 - Configuring Yahoo's Application Keys in Gigya's Website

 

  1. Go to the Dashboard section of Gigya's website.
    Note: If you are not signed in to Gigya, please go to http://www.gigya.com/ and sign in.

     

  2. Press the "Site Settings" button that corresponds to the domain you wish to configure. You will be redirected to the "Site Settings" page.

  3. Paste your keys (the "API Key" the "Shared Secret" and the "Application ID" from the end of phase 1) in the corresponding places:

  4. Click the "Save Settings" button (located at the lower right-hand corner of the page).

 

 

That's it, Yahoo configuration is complete! Please note that it might take up to 10 minutes for our system to become synchronized with Yahoo.
